There are 75 Ramsar sites in India as on 13 August 2022. India adds 11 more wetlands designated as Ramsar sites to make total 75 sites in the country. The 11 new sites include: four (4) sites in Tamil Nadu, Three (3) Sites in Odisha, Two (2) sites in Jammu and Kashmir and One (1) each in Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra. Designation of these sites would help in conservation and management of wetlands and wise use of their resources. On 13 August 2022 Eleven (11) Latest Ramsar sites in India given Below i.e.

iii)Ansupa lake (Odisha)
iv)Yashwant sager (Madhya Pradesh)
v)Chitrangudi Bird Sanctuary (Tamil Nadu)
vi)Suchindram Theroor Wetland Complex (Tamil Nadu)
vii)Vaduvur Bird Sanctuary (Tamil Nadu)
viii)Kanjirankulam Bird Sanctuary (Tamil Nadu)
ix) Thane Creek (Maharashtra)
x)Hygam Wetland Conservation Reserve (Jammu and Kashmir)
xi)Shallbugh Wetland Conservation Reserve (Jammu and Kashmir)
There are 64 Ramsar sites in India as on 3 August 2022. India
adds 10 more wetlands designated as Ramsar sites to make total 64 sites
covering an area of 12,50,361 hectare in the country. The 10 new sites
include: Six (6) sites in Tamil Nadu and One (1) each in Goa, Karnataka,
Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. Designation of these sites would help in
conservation and management of wetlands and wise use of their resources. On 3 August 2022 ten more Ramsar wetlands site has been designates i.e.

ii) Satkosia Gorge (Odisha)
iii) Nanda Lake (Goa)
iv) Gulf of Mannar Marine Biosphere Reserve (Tamil Nadu)

V) Ranganathituu BS (Karnataka)
vi) Vembannur Wetland Complex Tamil Nadu

There are 54 Ramsar sites in india as on July 2022. On 26 July 2022 five more Ramsar wetlands site has been designates i.e i) Karikili bird Sanctuary located in the Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu, ii) Pallikaranai Wetland ramsar sites Located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. iii) Pichavaram Mangrove located in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu, iv) Pala Wetland is the Largest natural Wetland in Mizoram and v) Sakhya Sager located in Shivpuri, Madhya pradesh.Credit:- Tweet of union cabinet minister (Environment & forests). |
